About The Position

Job Summary Plans, directs and coordinates activities of an engineering department to design, integrate, analyze, manufacture, test and certify aircraft components, products, and systems; develops and maintains cost effective production methods, tooling, standards and procedures for company products and processes; supports or initiates continuous process improvement programs and reporting. Develops and provides leadership to institutionalize the processes of Continuous Quality Improvement in accordance with organizational goals and objectives. Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities Manages and develops plans, schedules and engineering methods for existing product lines, development of new products and/or projects. Establishes operating policies and procedures, interprets, executes and recommends modifications to technical and administrative organizational policies. Develops or directs the development of initial design concepts to support new product development and customer needs. Directs department activities in designing new products, modifying existing designs, improving production techniques and developing test procedures to ensure newly developed product tooling, processes and materials can be adapted to production environment; design and installation of new equipment or equipment upgrades. Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects. Transfer new technology concepts into new product innovations and existing product line modifications. Resolves or directs the resolution of engineering design or product operational problems. Coordinates with Manufacturing, Marketing, Contracts and Quality Assurance and other groups to ensure required engineering documentation is established and maintained for each project. Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness and customer demand for new and/or existing products. Creates and maintains budget and schedule tracking metrics and reports progress to Engineering management. Supervises and evaluates the performance of engineering staff. Forecasts department operating costs and directs preparation of budget requests. Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 Year / Bachelors Degree. Mechanical Engineering or other appropriate engineering discipline.
  • 7-9 year(s) Related experience.
  • Minimum Years of Experience year(s) Description 3 year(s)
  • Communicates effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms.
  • Makes telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and makes formal presentations to small or large groups.
  • Operates standard office equipment and demonstrates competence in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Must be able to effectively plan, evaluate, organize, integrate, and coach.
  • Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required.
  • Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
