By joining our District 11 – Project Development Branch as a Transportation Engineer I in Clay County; you’ll have the opportunity to manage and oversee activities of transportation engineering projects with minimal phases and limited scope of work. Holders of the Transportation Engineer I position will complete tasks such as: Interprets and drafts professional and technical papers and reports Make recommendations concerning the planning or design of transportation facilities and related work. Manage and oversees activities of engineering projects and programs with multiple phases and larger scope of work and approves engineering documents as a Licensed Professional Engineer. Designs or coordinates the planning and, or, design of transportation facilities in accordance with the Departments policies, procedures, and standards and in accordance with federal rules and regulations. Reviews planning studies and makes recommendations for alternative solutions. Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this job classification.
  • Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period.
  • Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and written
