About The Position

We’re looking for a Transportation Coordinator in the Detroit area to support our Refugee Program by ensuring clients have safe, reliable transportation when they need it most. Duties and Responsibilities Create, maintain, and coordinate the weekly transportation schedule for clients and rearrange when necessary. Plan and coordinate efficient vehicle routes and ensure drivers adhere to the schedule. Maintain vehicle cleanliness, interior and exterior. Maintain/ensure a minimum of one-quarter tank of gas in vehicle at all times. Document and investigate any transportation challenges and identify possible solutions. Monitor vehicle maintenance and performance through regularly scheduled inspections and service repair. Report safety and maintenance concerns to supervisor. Coordinate maintenance schedules with automobile service departments. Manage and maintain accurate vehicle records and records of vehicle inventory. Initiate or provide payment of eligible expenses of funds for transportation. Monitor transportation expenses and make suggestions to reduce costs and to improve quality of service. Drive company vehicle when needed for added/last minute transportation. Attend weekly transportation meetings. Perform any reasonable task assigned by strategic team members and/or manager. _________________________________________________________________________________ Job Qualifications Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification High school graduate or equivalent preferred Experience Prior experience driving a bus or van. Prior supervisory experience is preferred. Chauffeur's license highly preferred. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of state traffic laws. Ability of speak, read and write English; bilingual in language of persons served preferred. Ability to write legibly and accurately. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and willingness to work with vulnerable and/or culturally diverse persons. Ability of professionally and cooperatively work with staff, management, family members and the general public. Possess basic knowledge of ability to perform minor vehicle maintenance tasks. Additional Work Requirements Automobile travel required. Valid unrestricted driver’s license with good driving record. Reliable personal automobile with valid proof of automobile insurance.
