About The Position

Responsible for supporting the District’s Transportation Safety Supervisor including, but not limited to, safety and training activities; hiring transportation personnel; facilitating transportation safety meetings and tests; and providing information to others.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree or equivalent, preferred.
Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Class “B” CDL with passenger, air brake, and school bus endorsements.
State Certified Trainer preferred with willingness to obtain.
Certified CDL Tester preferred with willingness to obtain.
Pre-Placement Physical Capacities Test.
Random Drug and Alcohol Testing.
Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.
Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.
Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include assessment instruments and techniques; codes/laws/rules/regulations/ policies; health standards; and methods of instruction and training.
Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

Responsibilities

Assist in assessing incidents, complaints and/or accidents to resolve or recommend a resolution to the situation.
Facilitate and/or participate in a variety of safety meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and/or gather information required to ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, laws, and guidelines.
Implement safety activities and/or processes ensuring that student transportation takes place in compliance with established safety laws, regulations, and guidelines.
Maintain safety / incident records and other required, mandated information providing needed information and meeting regulatory requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned ensuring efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Perform and/or assist with personnel administrative functions as assigned to maintain adequate staffing, enhancing safety of personnel, and ensuring achievement of department/program outcomes.
Prepare a variety of materials to document activities, provide written reference, and/or convey information.
Provide behind the wheel and classroom training for bus drivers evaluating and reviewing bus drivers' job knowledge and complying with state requirements.
Research a variety of topics in order to make recommendations, understand issues and maintain current regulatory standards.
Respond to all emergencies addressing immediate safety concerns.
Perform other related duties as required/assigned.
