About The Position

The GRTC Transportation Coach/Trainer is a Part-Time opportunity and will be responsible for coaching, teaching, and training new hires in a classroom setting, as well as working with experienced and inexperienced Operators with accident retraining and new equipment familiarization. The chosen candidate will have the ability not only to train but to teach, coach, and motivate students to become excellent operators for GRTC.

  • Must have excellent attendance and work performance record.
  • Computer Skills Required
  • Ability to monitor and supervise training students

Nice To Haves

  • One to Three years of prior training experience preferred but not required.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform behind-the-wheel training in all fixed-route fleet vehicles (29’ Gillig, 35’ Gillig, 40’ Gillig, 45’ MCI Coach, 60’ new Flyer articulated)
  • Perform behind-the-wheel training at all levels of the Training program.
  • Train students for Class B CDL test (pre-trip, reverse maneuvers, driving)
  • Perform classroom instruction in areas of defensive driving, bus operation, ADA/mobility device securement, company rules and regulations, and company policies/procedures.
  • Perform post-accident retraining.
  • Perform return-to-work training.
  • Perform refresher training.
  • Complete student training reports and student incident/discipline reports
  • Coordinate with trainers and managers regarding student progress.
  • Assist with Training department projects and development.
  • Communicate and coordinate with Maintenance and Transportation to meet training needs.
  • Aid in collecting data to be useful in future Bus Route adjustments.
  • Help attain long term safety goals that can be taught in the classroom and enforced on the street.
  • Assist with developing/updating training curriculum.
