The University of Chicago campus is part of Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood which contains a significant amount of off-campus housing for undergraduate and graduate students. More than a third of the University’s staff resides in areas surrounding the campus and more than 50% of the University’s faculty live in the Hyde Park area. The Department of Safety and Security includes the University of Chicago Police Department (UCPD), Emergency Management, Transportation and Parking Services, Campus Safety Division, and Environmental Health and Safety. The Department aims to provide strong parking, safety and transportation services to members of the University community. The Transportation and Parking Administrator leads the activities and day-to-day functions of the Transportation and Parking Office. Works directly with Transportation and Parking Services Managers to ensure the goals and objectives specified for transit and parking operations are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, safety objectives, time limitations, funding limitations and other specifications. This position has responsibility for running reports via the parking database, maintaining parking lot inventory counts and cash-handling operations. Works collaboratively with transportation management to ensure passenger counts are collected, analyzed and accurately reported at appropriate intervals. Occasionally inspects daytime and evening shuttles to assess external and internal conditions and to perform quality assurance checks. Monitors Transloc real time shuttle display to ensure routes are running on time and there are no discrepancies. Ensures queries through [email protected], charter service requests, and Lyft Ride Smart requests are monitored and responded to promptly.
