About The Position

The Transport Outreach Educator provides education to DCH referral centers and outlying facilities in accordance with their needs. The Transport Outreach Educator also identifies and produces educational materials to support public relations and communication with DCH customers that meets the need for neonatal and pediatric services with possible transport opportunities.

Requirements

  • Current RN, RRT or Paramedic license in the State of Texas
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Broad knowledge of clinical functions, specific knowledge of patient care activities and knowledge of key educational processes.
  • A minimum of five years clinical experience in pediatrics or neonate, or an in dustry educational background.
  • Education and/or presentation skills.
  • Knowledge in computer applications.
  • Ability to operate projectors, audiovisual equipment, cameras, and other equipment used in the instruction of education.
  • BLS
  • NRP (if applicable)
  • PALS (if applicable)
  • ACLS (if applicable)
  • STABLE (if applicable)
  • PFCCS (if applicable)
  • Instructor Provider status upon reaching eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty Certification in clinical area and/or professional development preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, facilitates, instructs and delivers education to outside facilities
  • Schedules educational sessions with facilities
  • Prepares and coordinates presentations with DCH staff
  • Coordinates CEU paperwork with CPDP
  • Provides necessary communication and/or follow-up with facilities after educational programs
  • Provides regional educational brochure/catalog for education needs
  • Solicits Critical Care Transport Staff to assist with outreach education opportunities
  • Supports and promotes education to Critical Care Transport staff
  • Updates unit policies as needed
  • Updates competency check-off sheets as needed
  • Participates in the screening and hiring process for new employees
  • Supports organizational and administrative structure to achieve DCH goals
  • Facilitates team-building
  • Provides leadership to enhance the visibility of Transport and DCH to communities
  • Participates in self-development opportunities
  • Participates in departmental meetings
  • Completes annual educational requirements
  • Maintains utmost level of patient confidentiality at all times
  • Supports and carries out hospital policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to DCH compliance and integrity guidelines
