About The Position

The Summit Center is Western New York’s leading provider of evidence-based services for children and adults with autism and other developmental, social, and behavioral challenges. The Training and Program Development Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality onboarding and ongoing training in compliance with OPWDD and NY State Education requirements, including mandated programs such as SCIP-R, Ukeru, and agency-specific content. This role ensures timely updates to training materials, maintains accurate training records, and supports regulatory compliance. The team is dedicated to helping every individual achieve their highest level of independence, and the center offers a supportive environment with dedicated supervisors and great benefits.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of training experience
  • Experience with OPWDD-regulated programs and training delivery
  • SCIP-R Instructor certification required within 6 months of hire
  • Ukeru Instructor certification required within 12 months of hire
  • ARC First Aid/CPR Instructor certification required within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Human Services, Psychology, or related field
  • SCIP-R Instructor certification preferred
  • Ukeru Instructor certification preferred
  • ARC First Aid/CPR Instructor certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivering high-quality onboarding and ongoing training in compliance with OPWDD and NY State Education requirements, including mandated programs such as SCIP-R, Ukeru, and agency-specific content.
  • Ensuring timely updates to training materials.
  • Maintaining accurate training records.
  • Supporting regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluating training effectiveness using feedback, observation, and outcome data.
  • Updating materials based on best practices, policy changes, and audit results.
  • Developing training calendars and scheduling staff to maintain certifications.
  • Managing training records and Learning Management System (LMS) entries.
  • Assisting in presenting and supporting New Hire Orientation sessions.
  • Introducing new staff to agency values, policies, and procedures.
  • Serving as a training resource during onboarding.
  • Delivering required trainings (e.g., SCIP-R, Ukeru, OPWDD curriculum).
  • Tracking completions and providing timely refreshers to meet compliance standards.
  • Maintaining Bus Driver records and ensuring staff are in compliance with all NYS regulations.
  • Managing intern and volunteer onboarding to ensure appropriate forms are completed and there is compliance with all regulations prior to the start of volunteer or intern assignments.
  • Collaborating with clinical and leadership teams to align training with best practices.
