Envision Unlimited's Community Day services allows our members with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to engage in their community, develop support groups outside of the family, and provide an environment to cultivate personal interests and vocational skills. Responsibilities of the Training Counselor: Develop members' short term goals, plan future activities, and review performance as a part of the Integrated Service Plan. Assess and become knowledgeable of a members' vocational, social, personal, academic, physical and emotional needs and capabilities through counseling and meetings with family members and agency consultants. Attend to personal care (such as toileting, showering, tooth brushing), hygiene (such as hand-washing) and medical needs of clients. Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies following appropriate Health and Safety, Aggression Management, First Aid, CPR, accident/incident reporting and other procedures as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months or more experience working with the I/DD population.
  • College course work in related field (social work/psychology/sociology/special education/rehabilitation/human services etc..)
  • Registration on the Illinois Health Care Worker Registry as a DSP(Direct Service Professional).
  • Hobby skills in the arena dance, arts& crafts, theater, gardening, sewing etc...
