About The Position

Lutheran Social Services of WI and Upper MI (LSS) is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor - In Training (SAC-IT) to join our dedicated team in Janesville, WI . This role focuses on group therapy for individuals navigating substance use disorder and supporting their recovery journey. You’ll work with referrals from Rock County, the Department of Corrections, and self-referrals.

Requirements

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.
• Valid SAC-IT , SAC , or CSAC license from WI DSPS.
• Strong understanding of addiction, recovery, and counseling principles.
• Ability to travel locally up to 25%.

Nice To Haves

• 1+ year experience working with correctional populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervised addiction counseling and case management in an outpatient setting.
• Facilitate group and individual therapy sessions.
• Complete assessments, diagnostics, and referrals.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation per state, federal, and agency standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
• Participate in staff development and training.
• May require some evening hours to meet client needs.
