About The Position

The Training Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining a comprehensive manufacturing training and qualification program that builds workforce capability, ensures safe and reliable operations, and reduces operational risk. This role owns the design and execution of structured training pathways, competency validation, and standard work documentation across operations. The position translates technical, safety, and process knowledge into effective training systems that support operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and long-term workforce development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical, Operations, Engineering, Training, Education, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for training, qualification, or workforce development programs.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations and standard work.
  • Ability to design and deliver effective adult learning and hands-on training.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, maintenance, safety, and HR.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); ability to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

  • Training Delivery and On-the-Job Coaching
  • Conduct hands-on, classroom, and on-the-job training for operations employees.
  • Coach employees through troubleshooting, upset conditions, and abnormal operations.
  • Reinforce safe work practices, standard operating procedures, and centerline adherence.
  • Coordinate external trainers, OEMs, and technical experts as needed.
  • Competency Assessment and Qualification • Develop and administer written, practical, and observational competency assessments.
  • Validate employee proficiency prior to qualification or job certification.
  • Design and maintain training matrices and qualification records.
  • Cross-Functional Technical Integration
  • Partner with Engineering and Maintenance to translate equipment and process changes into training.
  • Participate in the Management of Change (MOC) process to support safe startup and handoff.
  • Support incident investigations and post-event reviews by identifying training gaps.
  • Skills Gap Analysis and Workforce Development
  • Identify cross-training, succession, and capability gaps across operations.
  • Support development of employees pursuing advanced technical or leadership roles.
  • Align training efforts with operational reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Training Systems, Compliance, and Reporting
  • Maintain training documentation in compliance with regulatory, safety, and audit requirements.
  • Ensure training consistency across shifts.
  • Track and report training completion, qualification status, and key training metrics.
