About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Manager, the Training Coordinator is responsible for effectively creating, maintaining, modifying and delivering all aspects of CVTC’s employee onboarding, training, development, and mentoring programs. The Training Coordinator must demonstrate the ability to establish and implement quality adult learning programs, communicate effectively with others, evaluate existing training structure and work with others to develop and implement tools, techniques and other resources to improve training.

Requirements

  • Language Skills: Clear and timely communication with others. Follow written and verbal directions. Present information effectively, accurately and thoroughly in a style others can understand and act upon. Listen to others’ information, asks questions that clarify the intended message, and respond to questions from managers, consumers, and outside organizations.
  • Writing Skills: Written work is thorough and accurate. Written materials are provided in a timely manner and in a style usable by others.
  • Computer Skills: Utilize cloud based computing solution to tabulate and monitor consumer data. Utilize a training management system. Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of Applications. Utilize the internet to look up and retrieve information beneficial to consumer services.
  • Mathematical Skills: Calculation of figures and amounts including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages. Ability to apply basic math concepts.
  • Decision Making Abilities: Ability to solve practical problems and use available resources. Work independently with minimum supervision. Interpret and follow a variety of instructions provided verbally, written in diagram or schedule form. Maintain good judgment and composure during challenging situations. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, staff, community service representatives and the general public.
  • Training: CPR and First Aid Certification. Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training. Positive Behavior Support Training.
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be willing to travel within the state of California up to 20% of the time.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit to work with consumers who are potentially dangerous to self or others in accordance with the company’s Physical and Mental Fitness standards; must be willing to complete a health screening physical examination that includes a drug screen and TB test; and must have the unrestricted capacity to employ Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training for use in difficult situations.
  • Must meet state personnel licensing standards.
  • Must be able to successfully complete CPR and First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the company philosophy and needs regarding employee training, mentoring and development.
  • Assess training needs for new and existing employees.
  • Identify internal training programs to address competency gaps.
  • Partner with internal and external resources regarding gathering information on employee training needs.
  • Utilize internal and external resources to organize, develop, or source training programs to meet specific training needs.
  • Connect with subject matter experts internally and externally regarding instructional design.
  • Present training programs using training techniques and tools most effective for adult learning.
  • Facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, virtual training and on the job coaching and mentoring.
  • Maintain and update all training records data and present information with accuracy and completeness.
  • Present information that is organized and in style which others can utilize.
  • Thoroughly and accurately complete program paperwork.
  • Ensure that the training environment is safe, clean and organized.
  • Map out training plans for individual employees and groups of employees.
  • Develop and monitor company training schedules.
  • Plan and schedule company trainings.
  • Notify attendees and company stakeholders of upcoming trainings.
  • Track attendance and follow through on required company trainings.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate with company trainers and vendors to conduct company trainings.
  • Maintain current certifications or credentials to conduct trainings.
  • Maintain company records of trainings in employee files and distribute certifications.
  • Monitor the number of company trainers and make recommendations to adjust.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of company trainers.
  • Develop training aids such as videos, manuals, handbooks, slide-decks and other tools.
  • Design and apply assessment tools to measure training effectiveness
  • Track and report training outcomes.
  • Provide feedback to program participants and management.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on training material and methodology.
  • Communicate to management regarding any concerns that arise during or after company trainings.
  • Handle logistics for training activities including presenters, venues and equipment.
  • Manage training activities within an allotted time frame and within budget limits.
  • Keep current on training design and methodology.
  • Monitor employee outcomes to ensure training is effective.
  • Support a positive team working relationship with a professional work ethic and attitude.
  • Return calls and emails in a timely and professional manner.
  • Adhere to policies related to compliance with applicable health and safety regulations as established by the company and the responsible Safety Officer.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
