About The Position

We are seeking a Training and Development Specialist to join our mission-driven team in Portland, OR. In this role, you'll provide training and support to direct service staff and agency foster parents serving children and youth in program and home settings. This position requires strong training and facilitation skills and the ability to help others apply training content into practice. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with five (5) years of post-graduate experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience delivering services to families and children, and youth, preferably in the areas of foster care and/or youth homelessness.
  • Experience in training delivery and facilitation, training/curricula development, and supporting staff to implement best practices.
  • Ability to utilize technology to deliver training in person and virtually.
  • Certified to train in Non-violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) and/or Collaborative Problem-Solving (CPS), or be able to become certified.
  • Familiarity with attachment theory, child development, the psychosocial dynamics of foster care and/or youth experiencing homelessness, and unique needs of youth who have been impacted by trauma.
  • Must be able to provide official or unofficial grade transcripts, including the education level.

  • Applicants with previous experience in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) and Collaborative Problem Solving are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver training in classroom and small group settings, both in person and virtually. Scheduled training sessions include up to 12 weekend trainings per year.
  • Assist in the onboarding process to ensure new hires meet training requirements and are prepared for direct service care.
  • Model best practices in direct care as needed and guide staff on integrating training concepts into daily practice.
  • Identify and manage educational materials, maintain the training library, and share training opportunities with staff.
  • Develop and refine training curricula, handouts, and other educational resources.
  • Apply adult learning principles in training sessions, ensuring a conducive learning environment, and providing accommodations for diverse learners.
