About The Position

Teaching and enhancing job skills, attitudes, and behavior are critical to the success of people with disabilities in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; an AA degree is preferred.
  • Must have excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to deliver clear and precise instructions, maintain accurate record-keeping, and possess analytical skills.
  • The candidate must be able to read, write, and speak English effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Secondary languages in Spanish or Creole are a big plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform job analysis to understand the job's demands and required functions. This process should include analyzing the task, environment, physical and mental demands, tools, and equipment; sewing sample articles to determine assembly steps; human relations; and any other significant job demands, such as transportation and communication.
  • Train the participant to perform job duties independently. The training will include teaching the appropriate methods to operate; implementation of training based on participant’s learning style and individual needs; filling out the production record sheet; managing production obstacles (cutting errors, work aids, reporting to supervisor, etc.); understanding production goals and piece rate system for the operation; detect and correct defective work; care and manage the equipment; etc.
  • Plan and monitor training schedules to encourage the achievement of production standards within a specified timeframe.
  • Assess performance, record production, and timeframes, and report the participant’s progress according to the training schedule. If needed, recommend that the participant transfer from one operation to another.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the department's needs.
  • All other duties as assigned.
