Your Opportunity The Stantec Community Development team in Lake Mary, Florida is looking for a Transportation Planner / Traffic Engineer to join the Florida Transportation team. The Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning team are passionate about safety and mobility and are excited to provide growth opportunities and mentorship to experienced problem solvers. As a Traffic Engineer / Planner, you will demonstrate proficiency in data preparation, analysis, and presentation, effective communication, time management, as well as critical thinking and problem-solving skills for transportation planning, development, and engineering projects of varying sizes and complexity. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently and have experience as a task manager/deputy project manager or as a project manager, with an interest in growing as a technical professional, project manager, and business developer. Your Key Responsibilities Typical projects and assignments include: Transportation impact assessments. Access, circulation, and parking studies. Arterial and freeway traffic operations studies. Safety engineering studies and conceptual design. Development of project and task scopes, budgets, and schedules. Major components of these projects include: Travel demand modeling and forecasting. Traffic operations analysis. Safety data analysis. Field reviews. Development of technical documentation, including graphics, in memorandums, reports, and presentations.

Requirements

  • Highly motivated individual with genuine passion for transportation safety.
  • 6+ years of traffic engineering or traffic planning transportation work experience.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners certification or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Florida, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Progressive experience as a task manager/deputy project manager.
  • Proven expertise with national and FDOT manuals and guides, including the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Project Traffic Forecasting Handbook, Traffic Analysis Handbook, Multimodal Transportation Site Impact Handbook, Multimodal Access Management Guidebook, and Traffic Engineering Manual.
  • Proficiency with Synchro and VISSIM, and TransModeler.
  • Experience with Comprehensive Plan Amendments (CPAs) and concurrency studies

Nice To Haves

  • PTOE and/or RSP certifications is a plus.
