Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or other appropriate curriculum, plus two years of significantly related work experience, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements. Experience can be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
  • Some travel and work events may be required during evenings and/or weekends.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • The position is in-office; no remote or hybrid work options will be available.
  • Knowledge of placing media ads and marketing campaigns.
  • Knowledge and experience in highway safety/driver behavioral, and educational programs.
  • Basic knowledge of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) federal 402 and 405 grant programs.
  • Knowledge of database and statistical programs.
  • Good customer service skills with strong listening, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong skills with grant management systems, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Suite.
  • Skillset necessary to work on a team and in a team environment.
  • Judgement that meets the agency's standard of excellence when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to be highly detailed and well organized in all situations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Highway Safety Administrator and Communications team on marketing material, marketing campaigns, and public engagement campaigns.
  • Aid the Highway Safety Administrator on marketing and media buying.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and review the development of grant applications/contracts to manage federal aid funds for local agencies, law enforcement agencies, non-profit organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Create, budget, and execute a strategic plan to increase occupant protection across Nebraska by using public engagement, marketing, public relations, social media, and media skills.
  • Plan, coordinate, execute, and document community outreach events to promote, educate, and create awareness for occupant protection at events.
  • Promote safe driving behaviors like wearing a seat belt, properly installing child safety seats, and wearing a motorcycle helmet to the target audience across the state.
  • Support grantees or sub-grantees with campaigns and/or initiatives, such as providing community engagement help, technical direction in preparation of all grant documents and reports to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Build and maintain strong relations with community leaders, law enforcement agencies, leaders of non-profit organzations and other key stakeholders to successfully fulfill grant and/or federal aid compliance and requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison for stakeholders between various project officials and federal and state authorities.
  • Review federal policies and requisitions, billings, invoices, and contracts pertaining to federal aid for proper documentation.
  • Prepare monthly reports and annual reports evaluating various federal aid activities; includes monitoring progress of all required applications and agreements to ensure deadlines and compliance are met.
  • Keep updated on new federal policies and guidelines that relate to funding grants and communicate to stakeholders on changes in the policies.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to provide accurate statistical information.
  • Present and/or represent on behalf of the NDOT at national, regional, state, and county conferences, meetings, and workshops.
  • Support the mission and values of NDOT and the Governor's office.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
