About The Position

Hermiston School District is seeking a full-time TOSA-Dean of Students for Rocky Heights Elementary School. The successful candidate will be properly licensed or have the ability to obtain licensure prior to the start of the school year, and possess the ability to serve as the Dean of Students. The position begins August 2026. The TOSA Dean of Students will work and be paid for 10 additional days above the normal 193-day teacher work year contract. There are six comprehensive elementary schools (K-5) within the Hermiston School District, ranging in size from 460-600 students. Each elementary campus has the supports of a Principal, Dean of Students, School Counselor, an Instructional Coach, and a range of classified staff. The district's goal is to support teachers in providing a premier education. The Hermiston School District is the largest district in eastern Oregon, exceeding 5,300 students in grades kindergarten through 12, with the mission of serving the needs of all students with rigorous and engaging program choices, mutual respect, and high expectations. The school district includes a 9-12 senior high school, two 6-8 middle schools, and six K-5 elementary schools. The district employs over 630 full-time staff, including approximately 390 teachers and over 260 classified, support, and supervisory personnel. The city of Hermiston is a vibrant and growing community of almost 20,000 residents located at the crossroads of the Pacific Northwest, offering various recreational opportunities and strong community support for the school district.

Requirements

  • Properly licensed or have the ability to obtain licensure prior to the start of the school year
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience with increasing levels of responsibility in a school setting, elementary preferred
  • Valid licensure through Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC)
  • Working knowledge of discipline procedures, education code, district policies
  • Excellent command of oral and written English language
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for on-the-job travel
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds
