About The Position

Position Summary of the Tool Room SupervisorSupervise, direct and coordinate the daily activities and employees in the Production Tooling and Tool Control Department. Emphasis is on establishing processes to ensure continual customer satisfaction, defect-free product, on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, safety, and cost-reductions and controls. Position Responsibilities Supervisory Duties Supervise and schedule work hours and duties for 2 shifts of employees in the Tool Room.Conduct department activities such as meetings, and safety and housekeeping audits. Order department supplies and equipment; authorize department expenditures; assist in annual budget preparation. Assist subordinates in performing their job duties; provide training and technical support as needed. Tooling Inventory Control Establish procedures for just-in-time procurement and manufacture of tooling. Establish inventory levels, reorder points, back-up stock, repair stock and other methods to ensure tools are on hand to meet Company production requirements. Establish procedures for maintaining and distributing print packets and related paperwork. Coordinate tooling needs and issues with other departments. Provide measurements and reports to analyze tool usage and problems. Evaluate quality and on-time delivery to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective and preventive action. Tooling Production Establish procedures to ensure that production and sample tooling is produced on time and to specifications. Ensure machine maintenance is performed as required. Ensure operator set-up data sheets, tooling documentation and records are maintained as needed. Establish interfaces and open communication with customers and suppliers to ensure satisfaction and continuous improvement. New Product Manufacturing Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to determine the best tool design and process for a new product. Support setups and assist on the manufacturing floor as needed for new products.

Requirements

  • HSD/GED or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, with at least two years in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge of inventory control procedures.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering prints.
  • Working knowledge of fastener industry and support areas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to train new employees in fastener manufacturing.

Nice To Haves

  • Education beyond high school
  • Previous supervisory experience in materials, tooling production or machining.
  • Experience with total quality management, lean manufacturing or other process improvement systems.
