About The Position

The Tool Room Technician is responsible for working with the team to deliver clean, production ready molds to the production floor or putting clean molds back onto the shelf ready for use.   Critical job responsibilities include ensuring: molding surfaces are free of rust, contaminants, gas marks or other debris.   Providing sufficient lubrication to moving components in the mold including slides, bushings, leader pins, ejection systems, o-rings return pins, and ejector pins, slides, gibbs and wear plates. Additionally, the Tool Room Technician, should inspect the molds and report any damage detected on molds to appropriate tool room personnel, production staff and project management.  Perform water leak and flow verification on all molds and fill out appropriate tags to alert production personnel of mold status.

  • Ability to use general tool shop tools for disassembly and assembly of molds.
  • Minimum 5 years in a Mold/tool room environment.
  • High school diploma
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Understands the importance of the PM process on complex medical molds is a plus.
  • Ability to use heater control test units to test heater zones on manifold systems during PM process.

Responsibilities

  • Mold maintenance shop processes & resources.
  • Responsible with all safety requirements promoting a Safety First culture striving for an injury free workplace.
  • Performing all levels of mold cleaning operations per SG Mold Maintenance and Care procedure.
  • Cleaning inserts, mold faces, ejector pin holes, bushings leader pins, slides, gibbs, wear plates, hydraulic cylinder assemblies, water lines, vents and all other mold components to ensure proper mold operation.
  • Delivering clean molds to production floor or put onto shelf that are ready for production.
  • Ensuring in thoroughly test water lines for flow and leaks to prevent extra setups in production.
  • Inspecting molds during assembly and report damage, uneven wear, tight components, galled components or other signs of potential damage to appropriate personnel.
