About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Tooling Mechanic to support the Fabrication Team in Berkeley, MO! Tooling Mechanics in this role will operate metal working equipment including saws, drill presses, benders, swaging machine, pressure test benches, vapor degreaser and/or aqueous degreaser, and a variety of hand tools. Position Responsibilities: Read and interpret shop process specifications, blueprints, work instructions and visual aids in order to perform several elements of the fabrication such as bending, cutting, swaging, install fittings, cleaning, identifying, pressure testing and numerous end form operations Perform detailed quality checks to verify accuracy of manufactured products against fabrication drawings and details and to ensure all standards and requirements are met using equipment such as measuring equipment Ability to quickly learn and take direction from others for processes, jobs, duties and work with minimum supervision during production Assist the programs and engineering with new parts, troubleshooting issues, geometry changes, etc Trial fit and install tubes on production aircrafts and identify and report fit issues based on blueprints. Perform skilled assembly operations on tubes from blueprints with or without firm callouts such as: shimming, fitting, trimming and aligning which may vary considerably from one assembly to another Ability to use logic and reasoning to troubleshoot and solve practical problems

Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience using a tube bender or similar machinery
  • Experience with the layout, mockup and fabrication of tubing system
  • Experience using complete set of toolmaker shop equipment (milling, lathe, precision, grinding, polishing, and fitting)
  • 1+years of experience as a Machinist or Tool Maker

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with detailed work instructions or reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
  • Proficient using a Microsoft Office/Suite
  • High school graduate or GED
