About The Position

Our client, a leading aerospace manufacturer supporting federal programs, is seeking motivated, mechanically inclined individuals for multiple Tooling Apprentice / Bench Upgrader opportunities across Warren, Troy, and Auburn Hills. This is a direct-hire, full-time opportunity designed for entry-level to early-career manufacturing professionals (1–3 years experience preferred) who are eager to build a long-term career in precision aerospace tooling and machining. This role provides a clear advancement path into Machinist and Toolmaker positions for individuals who demonstrate strong work ethic, initiative, mechanical aptitude, and commitment to mastering the trade.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and/or relevant manufacturing experience
  • 1–3 years of manufacturing, fabrication, tooling, or mechanical experience preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with hand and power tools
  • Basic blueprint reading experience preferred
  • Basic toolbox kit is a plus but not required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Good communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and integrity
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Employment offer is contingent upon passing pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, balance, and rotate trunk
  • Ability to lift 30+ pounds
  • Strong manual dexterity required

Responsibilities

  • Perform bench work including grinding, deburring, sanding, drilling, cutting, polishing, fitting, assembly, and tooling upgrades
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and small machinery
  • Assist lead Toolmakers and Machinists with tooling repairs, modifications, and project support
  • Act as project support for designated Toolmaker leaders
  • Follow through on assigned tasks and directives in a timely manner
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints and work instructions
  • Use basic measuring devices and maintain attention to precision standards
  • Maintain organized work areas in compliance with aerospace quality and safety standards
  • Follow company safety guidelines and procedures at all times
  • Support production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives
