About The Position

Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a Tool Room Apprentice in Carol Stream, IL. Core hours for this role are 5:00am-3:30pm Mon-Thurs with occasional OT on Friday. The pay rate for this position is $16.50-$22 per hour. Eaton announced, on January 26, 2026, the intent to separate its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) into an independent, publicly traded company. We expect to complete the separation by the end of the first quarter of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Mobility Group when the spinoff closes, the new company will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time. What you’ll do: Position Overview: The Production Test Technician Apprentice will receive on the job training to perform testing, troubleshooting and repairs on single phase and three phase medium voltage UPS systems, while receiving formal instruction at a local community college. Employee must utilize Eaton’s Educational Assistance Program. This program is expected to last for one (1) year, and all graduating apprentices will be eligible for a full-time position as a Test Technician I. Internal candidates that complete this program must remain in the Test Technician I job role for at least one (1) year prior to applying to other open positions. In this role: You will attend classes at a local Community College up to 10 hours per week (via online or in person), and will work the balance of hours in On-the-Job Training to become a Test Technician I You will exhibit a strong adherence to quality by continually seeking methods of improvement for all functions of the position You will ensure that all products and parts adequately meet Eaton’s quality guidelines as they move throughout the production process and perform quality checks as instructed You will read electronic schematics to ensure products meet defined specifications You will report any Non-conformance items by utilizing our Quality Management Guidelines You will recommend modifications and improvements to enhance the products for quality, reliability, manufacturability and cost effectiveness You will communicate with Production Associates, Quality Engineering Technician, Manufacturing Engineers and Test Engineers to resolve daily production and warranty issues You will check maintain equipment to ensure compliance with ISO 9000:2000 standards You will identify and implement corrective actions for the repair, replacement and calibration of laboratory tools and manufacturing equipment You will use the principles of 5S+ to ensure a clean and organized work area

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Only candidates in the immediate geographic area (50 mile radius) will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
