Their name stands for quality, environmental consciousness, and safety, and innovation drives them to create the future of mobility.The Tool & Die Leader is responsible for the Toolroom personnel, coordinating activities to support the primary goal of production. This role also involves the control and maintenance of all tools and assisting the organization in the implementation of MAFACT, including lean, standardized work, and continuous improvement activities. The scope covers all aspects and functions involved in the application of MAFACT support.

Requirements

  • High School/GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hi-lo crane certification/license.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of database software.
  • Knowledge of Autocad.
  • Knowledge of internet software.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of AS400.
  • Meets minimum requirements on Toolroom Skill Assessment & Requirements Matrix.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the organization in implementation of MAFACT, including lean, standardized work and continuous improvement activities.
  • Cost optimization by working with team members as well as suppliers and other support staff as needed.
  • May assist and at times champion initiatives and must have ability to work with and lead a groups to achieve goals.
  • Takes responsibility and accountability to meet milestone targets and seeks alternate ways to accomplish tasks.
  • Works with employees on all levels to develop project descriptions, cost, benefits, and timing.
  • Provides support for certain technical questions and issues and researches answers.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.5s
  • Work with suppliers and submit requisitions. This includes using proper accounts and receiving methods and policies and works with budget owners to seek approval and report.
  • Performs Layered Process Audits (LPA’s).
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities, submits improvement suggestions.
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to including IATF, ISO14001 (EMS), and Employee Handbook.
  • Follows MIOSHA and MPTSH safety regulations and policies, including lockout and wearing required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Schedule and coordinate the daily tasks for toolroom personnel.
  • Meet daily with Production Supervisors to assure correct priorities.
  • Coordinate tooling activities with Manufacturing Manager.
  • Involvement in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Schedule preventive maintenance/predictive maintenance and maintain database in computer software program for all tooling.
  • Monitor apprenticeship training.
  • Maintain MRO system.
  • Assist in managing tooling budget.
  • Assist with training of Press Operators.
  • Assists with managing all employees in the Tool room.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of direct reports.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, training, mentoring and coaching, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
