About The Position

Be the Backbone of Precision, Safety & Efficiency! Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for tools, organization, and operational excellence? We're seeking a Tool Crib Lead to oversee the heart of our operations-our tool crib. In this dynamic role, you'll manage the flow of tools and equipment, support field and shop teams, and serve as the subject matter expert on specialty tools, their applications, and proper handling procedures. You'll also mentor junior team members, streamline inventory processes, and ensure our operations run safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in a related role
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
  • Knowledge of carbide drills, end mills, inserted cutters, and boring tooling
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and inventory systems
  • Ability to measure and inspect lengths, diameters, straightness, flatness, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, and manuals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with vendors, customers, and team members
  • Proficient in basic math, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical information and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Frequently stand and walk
  • Frequently climb ladders and stairs
  • Frequently stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch
  • Frequently lift and/or move physical products (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally sit and use hands to handle tools or controls
  • Frequently talk or hear
  • Valid driver's license (preferred)
  • Successful completion of IPM Overhead Crane Training (required)
  • Successful completion of IPM's Forklift Training (required)
  • Valid Forklift license (required)
  • Ability to utilize multiple mobile apps for time sheet entry, travel, expense reporting, etc.

  • Experience in machining (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Receive, store, issue, and track all tools, perishables, and project-related equipment
  • Select and prepare tools for shop and field jobs, anticipating needs based on job specifications
  • Maintain accurate records manually and in TRACE software
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on specialty tools, advising on proper selection, usage, and handling
  • Train and mentor team members on tool procedures and safety protocols
  • Lead initiatives to reduce costs and improve tool availability and efficiency
  • Load and unload trucks; manage shipping and receiving (UPS/FedEx)
  • Forecast tool needs, issue requisitions, and assist with purchasing decisions
  • Coordinate with department heads to align tool crib operations with production priorities
  • Identify tool upgrades, enforce safety procedures, and maintain a clean, organized workspace
