About The Position

The TMS Implementation Project Manager is responsible for leading end-to-end implementation projects for MercuryGate or comparable SaaS-based Transportation Management Systems. This role oversees planning, execution, configuration, testing, training, and deployment activities to ensure successful delivery of tailored TMS solutions that support customer operational excellence. The ideal candidate brings strong project management expertise, deep understanding of transportation operations, and hands-on experience with modern enterprise SaaS TMS platforms. The TMS Implementation Project Manager plays a key role in shaping successful digital transformation initiatives across the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Information Systems, Business, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 4+ years of experience implementing MercuryGate TMS or similar SaaS TMS platforms (e.g., Blue Yonder, Trimble, Manhattan, Oracle OTM, Maven).
  • Proven experience leading complex enterprise or multi-site software implementation projects.
  • Strong understanding of transportation operations (LTL, TL, parcel, dedicated, brokerage, intermodal, planning, dispatch, carrier management).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder expectations, drive decisions, and deliver results in a cross functional environment.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • High adaptability quotient (AQ) and comfort operating in dynamic and fast-paced environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management certification (PMP, CAPM, or Agile certifications).
  • Knowledge of WMS, ERP, or other supply chain systems.
  • Experience working with third-party logistics (3PL), dedicated fleets, or managed transportation services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle TMS implementation projects from requirements discovery through go-live and post-launch stabilization.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource assignments; monitor progress and proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Manage project scope and ensure alignment with business objectives and contractual deliverables.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across IT, operations, product, integrations, and external partners.
  • Provide consistent project reporting, status updates, and executive-level communication.
  • Conduct requirement-gathering sessions with customers and internal stakeholders to define functional, operational, and integration needs.
  • Partner with technical teams to support API integrations, data migration, EDI setup, and system validation.
  • Support testing cycles—including unit testing, SIT, UAT, and regression—ensuring configuration aligns with business expectations.
  • Lead change management efforts and ensure customers are prepared for adoption of new TMS capabilities.
  • Coordinate and deliver end-user training, documentation, and operational readiness activities.
  • Facilitate change requests and enhancements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in Tech Review (TR) and Change Approval Board (CAB) meetings for assigned projects.
  • Oversee cutover planning, go-live readiness, and hypercare support.
  • Ensure a smooth transition to support teams with complete knowledge transfer and documentation.
  • Monitor post-launch performance to ensure solution stability and measure key project success criteria.
