About The Position

The Opportunity Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Title IX Investigator and Educational Specialist (Title IX Investigator) to join the Title IX team at the Prescott, Arizona Campus. Reporting to the Title IX Coordinator, the Title IX Investigator is responsible for investigating and assisting with resolving complaints of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, sex-based violence, including sexual assault, stalking, and intimate partner violence, for cases involving students, faculty, and staff in accordance with federal regulations. In addition, this position will coordinate supportive measures and accommodation for both complainants and respondents, arrange Informal Resolutions, and educational conversations with students, as necessary. The Title IX Investigator will work with the Title IX Coordinator and the Title IX team to provide training, education and outreach to students, faculty and staff both online and in-person. This position will work with the Title IX Coordinator to manage the day-to-day responsibilities associated with the University’s Title IX compliance obligations and reporting, including Clery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required; master's degree is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to write concise, logical analytical reports to convey complex issues
  • Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges, including the ability to handle issues of complex and extreme sensitivity
  • Ability to maintain neutrality and work under stress
  • Ability to learn, understand, interpret and adhere to Federal and State laws and regulations including Title IX, FERPA, VAWA, Clery, etc.
  • Possess interviewing and report writing skills
  • Experience working with students in institutions of higher education
  • Experience in complaint and grievance resolution
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse constituencies to support an inclusive campus environment.
  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills with the ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs, including cases of sexual harassment, sexual assault, rape, dating/domestic violence, and stalking.
  • Establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships with all constituencies
  • Strong work ethic; attention to detail, highly motivated, and self-directed execution of routine and special projects.
  • Experience developing and presenting training
  • Excellent judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information

Responsibilities

  • Case Facilitation and Investigations Serve as the primary in-person point of contact for the Title IX Office Prescott campus, by facilitating intake meetings, investigations, informal resolutions, educational conversations, supportive measures, and/or student/employee referrals.
  • Act in the capacity of a Title IX Investigator to resolve complaints of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, sex-based violence including stalking, intimate partner violence, or other necessary investigations
  • Act as a neutral party through all aspects of investigations and ensure a prompt, fair, objective, and unbiased process for all parties
  • Conduct interviews and gather other available information and evidence to be used during investigations
  • Attend and assist in coordinating live hearings
  • Develop and provide detailed, high-quality, unbiased investigative reports
  • Advise involved parties of their rights; provide supportive measures in conjunction with Title IX Coordinator
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality during all stages of the process
  • Keep records of all investigations in compliance with federal mandates
  • Assist in the management of Maxient (conduct database) and documenting all evidence, notes, and case files electronically
  • Facilitate informal resolutions and educational conversations in lieu of formal investigations
  • Assist in the development of protocols, policies and processes in compliance with Title IX
  • Assist in compiling and maintaining statistics and data for reporting purposes
  • Communicate regularly with Title IX Coordinator; provide status of complaints and investigations
  • Work cooperatively with Dean of Students Office, Safety & Security, Housing and Residence Life, Student Activities, Registrar, etc.
  • Training and Educational Programming Facilitate, organize, and provide trainings and events in-person and on-line regarding the Title IX requirements for faculty, staff, and student populations.
  • Assist in providing consultation and information regarding Title IX requirements to a variety of University constituents
  • Remain knowledgeable of current state and federal law, regulations, and trends in the field of education related to harassment and other discriminatory practices that violate Title IX
  • Create and participate in providing education, training, and outreach relating to Title IX for faculty, staff and students
  • Ensure the Title IX Office is meeting goals for training and education of all entities of the University
  • Work with Title IX Coordinator to proactively find ways and methods to spread the word against Sexual Harassment and Sexual Misconduct
  • Participate in Orientation, University 101 classes, Pinwheel Project, and other events to help raise awareness of sexual harassment
  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources to ensure compliance with federal mandates for employees
  • Administrative Managing daily office operations, providing clerical support, handling communication, organizing records, ensuring a smooth and efficient workspace, covering tasks like scheduling, correspondence (phones/email), visitor greeting, supply management, and support for Title IX Office functions.
  • Key duties include managing their own calendar, preparing documents, maintaining filing system, coordinating meetings, and acting as a central point of contact, requiring strong organization and communication skills.
  • Participate in weekly/monthly meetings, attend professional development opportunities, provide Title IX Office coverage, and other duties as assigned.
