About The Position

Position contingent on grant funding. SALARY: Commensurate with certification/licensure and experience based on the Wicomico County Salary Schedule for Teachers . Includes benefits package . HOURS: Full time 10-month position (190 contract days). FLSA: Exempt Contract Unit: This position is part of Unit I (Certificated) bargaining unit. QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold or be eligible for a Maryland professional certificate/license in Early Childhood Education. ESOL endorsement or extensive experience in working with Multilingual Learners (MLs) is required. Five (5) years’ experience as an effective classroom teacher as demonstrated by student proficiency and growth data. Evidence of successful professional development leadership experience. Experience with various technology platforms. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS: Knowledge of multiple perspectives on multi-cultural education. Leadership and personal qualities necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, and administrators. Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and administrators. RESPONSIBILITIES Report directly to the Supervisor of ESOL and work collaboratively with the Early Childhood Supervisor, administrators, teachers, and staff at assigned schools. Provide coach support to K-2 staff in all Title I schools by modeling strategies, planning with teachers, and providing instructional resources that can be utilized with identified MLs. Provide instructional resources for K-2 staff that can be used with identified MLs. Analyze multiple data sources at the school and district level and communicate results to stakeholders to inform instruction. Support the implementation of early childhood and ML initiatives, professional learning communities, teacher collaboration initiatives, and curriculum integration. Plan, deliver, and evaluate needs-based professional development activities at the school and district levels. Maintain on-going communication with K-2 teachers serving MLs and maintain a positive, nurturing, collaborative, and consultative-type relationship. Communicate effectively orally and in writing with early childhood staff, students and community members. Use technology to support/enhance instructional activities and professional development opportunities. Maintain required Title I documentation when applicable. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of content-area standards, WIDA, research, laws, and most effective practices in the field through professional reading, conferences, etc. Other related duties as assigned.
