About The Position

Southeast Toyota's Industrial Engineering department has immediate temporary part-time openings at their Vehicle Processing Centers in Commerce, GA. The student intern will assist the team in a variety of functions over a term of several months. This will include time-and-motion studies, process mapping, data collection in a production environment, participation in Kaizen Events and Gemba Walks, working with 5S teams to improve workplace organization and waste reduction, and performing ergonomic assessments. The intern will also adhere to safety and quality policy and procedures and support site compliance objectives, as well as other projects or duties assigned by the manager. The length of the internship will be based on the volume of work, the intern’s successful performance, and the continuous needs of the operation.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively
  • Ability to work under time constraints and manage complexity effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to work non-standard schedules based on business location needs due to varying schedules

Nice To Haves

  • Freshman, sophomore, and junior students preferred
  • STEM students or students with an engineering focus are preferred but not required
  • Experience and/or completed coursework related to time & motion studies
  • Microsoft Excel experience with data entry and basic macro development is desired
  • Microsoft PowerPoint experience in developing and delivering presentations

Responsibilities

  • Time-and-motion studies to develop labor standards for production activities
  • Participate in Process Mapping and data collection in a production environment
  • Participate in Kaizen Events and Gemba Walks under the direction of the IE Dept
  • Work closely with 5S teams to improve workplace organization and waste reduction
  • Perform ergonomic assessments and develop recommendations for various work tasks
  • Adhere to safety and quality policy and procedures and support site compliance objectives
  • Other projects or duties assigned by the manager
