The selected candidate will maintain an active research and writing agenda, with the expectation of making substantial progress on an article manuscript by August 2026. During the Fall term, responsibilities include developing a new course syllabus and continuing to advance an independent research agenda in preparation for Spring instruction. In the Spring term, the Candidate will teach an online course offered in collaboration with the Asian Studies Center, held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:00 p.m., and will develop a second new course syllabus in support of this teaching. The role also includes serving as a cultural ambassador in the greater Pittsburgh community through occasional public presentations and active participation in Global Studies events. The Candidate will contribute to instructional and educational outreach initiatives serving Pitt students, K–12 educators, and the broader public. Specific duties will be determined in consultation with the Director of the Global Studies Center.
