About The Position

Given the sensitive and classified nature of much of our work, protecting our people, facilities, assets, and information is essential to mission success. The Threat Management Intern will support the Threat Management and Insider Risk Management Program (IRMP) teams in detecting, assessing, and helping mitigate threats directed at Leidos personnel, facilities, intellectual property, and government-provided information under Leidos cognizance. This internship will provide hands-on exposure to enterprise security operations, insider risk mitigation, workplace threat assessment, and awareness program development within a highly regulated government contracting environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Psychology, Intelligence Studies, Cybersecurity, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in corporate security, insider threat programs, behavioral threat assessment, or risk management.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and research skills.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Coursework related to threat assessment, behavioral analysis, national security, workplace violence prevention, or cybersecurity.
  • Interest working within a highly regulated or classified government contracting environment.
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze information and present clear, concise summaries.

Responsibilities

  • Threat Monitoring and Case Support Support administrative and analytical aspects of threat intake and case tracking processes.
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining documentation related to threat assessments and monitoring activities.
  • Help compile summary reports and metrics related to threat trends and program effectiveness.
  • Conduct research on threat indicators, behavioral risk factors, and leading practices in threat mitigation.
  • Insider Risk Management Program (IRMP) Support Assist with components of the IRMP designed to detect, deter, and mitigate insider threats.
  • Support data organization and documentation activities associated with monitoring programs required for classified government work.
  • Help prepare briefing materials or educational resources related to insider risk awareness.
  • Conduct research on regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to insider threat programs.
  • Education, Awareness, and Outreach Assist in developing awareness materials to help employees recognize and appropriately respond to potential threats or concerning behaviors.
  • Support updates to internal resources, guidance documents, and informational content.
  • Help coordinate outreach efforts that reinforce vigilance, reporting responsibilities, and proactive risk mitigation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Special Projects Collaborate with Corporate Security, Legal, Human Resources, Compliance, and Information Security teams as appropriate.
  • Support special projects related to workplace violence prevention, protective intelligence, or risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Participate in team meetings and observe how threat management decisions are evaluated and operationalized.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
