About The Position

Nucor Towers and Structures (NTS) is a new entity within Nucor, the largest recycler and largest manufacturer of steel and steel products in North America, focused on the execution of our strategy to “Expand Beyond” our core business. As a part of Nucor’s New Markets product group, NTS is focused on the exciting growth potential in the power distribution market. The current production facility is in West Hazleton, PA, with greenfield sites going up in Decatur, AL and Crawfordsville, IN.
This entry-level position is responsible for numerous production related duties that include but are not limited to moving and organizing materials, following production schedules, and prepping, galvanizing, and finishing materials. This position will work closely with the Production Supervisor(s) and Leads to ensure an organized and efficient flow of materials through the plant while meeting established daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals. The Racking and Finishing teammates are responsible for hanging/ removing product from fixtures and correcting any imperfections caused during the galvanizing process.

• High School diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience operating mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

• Hanging and prepping materials for the galvanizing process in a safe and organized manner
• Operating overhead cranes and/or forklifts as necessary
• File or grind excess zinc, ash or drip marks from ends of product, deburr and clean threads on steel products that are created by the hot dipping process.
• Follow proper repair procedures of uncoated areas (how to grind & how to apply paint)
• Use zinc-based alloys (hot stick), paints containing zinc dust and sprayed zinc (metallizing) on steel products.
• Cleaning, packaging, and finishing materials after the galvanizing process is complete.
• Tracking all materials that are on site, both company stock and customer materials
