This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin’s mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future, shared solutions and standards, simplicity and lower costs, and manufacturable design. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers you will conduct material tests and interpret data in support of all of Blue's various spaceflight systems. The data you collect will directly influence failure investigations and inform material selection decisions. This role will be hands-on in a laboratory environment, working together with a team to analysis samples and generate results. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Requirements

  • BS Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of thermal testing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to author test documentation, such as plans and reports

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in testing at cryogenic and/or elevated temperatures
  • Experience with vacuum testing
  • Experience with mechanical testing
  • Knowledge in Python

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain materials testing and analytical equipment (Gleeble, DSC, STA, Thermal Analysis).
  • Execute test plans according to ASTM standards, or work with other engineers to design bespoke test plans, including sample preparation, fixturing, and data reporting and analysis.
  • Document procedures, calibration steps, and test results with strong discipline and clarity, partner with engineers to validate test configurations and communicate results that inform design decisions.
  • Provide guidance to early career technicians/technical specialist on equipment setup, fabrication techniques, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct thermal analysis of metal alloys and polymeric materials
