About The Position

As a Therapist Intern at KBBH, you play a meaningful part in supporting individuals and families on their journey toward healing and resilience; all while growing your own professional skills under the guidance of experienced clinicians. You will deliver supervised, trauma informed, culturally responsive services that may include individual, family, or group therapy; case management; psychoeducation; and crisis support (depending on program assignment). Interns at KBBH are fully integrated into multidisciplinary treatment teams, with opportunities to learn, stretch, and gain confidence in real world clinical environments. Your role is designed to support your development as a future therapist while ensuring clients receive high quality care anchored in dignity, respect, and client voice. You’ll build foundational counseling skills, strengthen case conceptualization, and gain familiarity with evidence informed practices that align with your graduate training program.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in psychology, social work, counseling, or related behavioral science field, and in the practicum level of the program.
  • Active collaborative educational agreement between KBBH and the graduate program
  • Demonstrated cultural responsiveness and effective communication
  • Ability to work within program, state, and academic scope of practice
  • Participation in weekly supervision with a qualified clinical supervisor
  • Must meet all requirements of their graduate program to maintain intern status
  • MHACBO.org QMHA certification eligible
  • All certifications must be maintained throughout employment

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy under supervision
  • Complete assessments, DSM 5 diagnoses, and treatment plans
  • Offer case management, skills training, and psychoeducation
  • Complete all clinical documentation by end of business day
  • Use collaborative and concurrent documentation practices
  • Resolve documentation and billing errors within two business days
  • Maintain HIPAA compliant and program aligned records
  • Participate in weekly clinical supervision and staff meetings
  • Demonstrate growth in clinical competencies and confidence
  • Incorporate feedback and supervision into service delivery
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, supervisors, and community partners
  • Assist with referrals and care transitions
  • Close cases with complete documentation within 14 days of termination
  • Manage a supervised caseload aligned with intern level
  • Meet prorated productivity goals outlined in the intern’s Productivity Agreement in collaboration with your supervisor.
