Test Methods Engineer
About The Position
The Test Methods Engineer will determine the most efficient and economical method of performing production testing. This role involves planning and writing specification test methods for production testing, and designing new test equipment and circuits to meet test specification requirements. The engineer will also estimate the cost of testing and test equipment, and assemble test stations. Responsibilities include adapting or modifying existing test equipment, including implementing automation to improve accuracy and efficiency. The position requires programming and using computers on general and special purpose test equipment for conducting PWA and/or System-level tests.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, preferably in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- Experience developing and implementing test software for automated test systems utilized in electronic components manufacturing.
- Experience reading assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
- Familiarity with test systems mechanical rack and component layout design.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
Nice To Haves
- Active US Government SECRET security clearance.
- Experience with troubleshooting electronics and hardware to the component level.
- BS in Engineering/Engineering Technology or BS in Computer Science preferred.
- Experience with software development/implementations of test programs using JTAG, C++, LabVIEW, or Visual Basic.
- Printed Wiring Assembly In-Circuit test experience.
- Experience with TestStand Software.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer-based project management tools associated with scheduling and cost monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Interface with design engineering (hardware, software, & systems) to translate the design into the production test environment to meet specifications.
- Design, develop, and construct test stations to allow for testing of products.
- Write test procedures to instruct test operators and provide on-the-job training to test operators for initial production testing.
- Support testing of both existing and developmental products, including troubleshooting failures to the component level.
- Modify existing test equipment to improve efficiency and/or accuracy using various software tools.
