This specific role supports engineering test and development activities at a Largescale Automotive OEM, focusing on objective testing of Brake systems for performance and durability in a Dynamometer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 0 - 2 years of Automotive test engineering experience for chassis (brakes, suspension, steering) performance evaluation
  • Experience using Data Acquisition tools and performing data analysis
  • Test track / driving experience required for test driving
  • Hands on experience with wrenching, Dynamometer set up/troubleshooting and instrumentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office.

Nice To Haves

  • Education with the following specialties preferred: Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Automotive, Manufacturing
  • Previous co-op/internship experience in test engineering will be considered
  • Formula SAE (FSAE), BAJA SAE, EcoCar, Mini BAJA SAE project experience focusing on test activities will be considered
  • Experience using Brake Dynamometers from Link preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the engineering test activities by applying engineering principles, experiences, and various analysis tools in following established test plans/procedures to test Brake system parts/components to determine design feasibility and ensure parts/components meet design acceptance criteria, performance level targets and any applicable regulatory/internal standards.
  • Analyze and resolve problems with moderate level of guidance and direction.
  • Perform system/sub-system level tests in the lab/dyno for objective evaluation.
  • Support instrumentation and scheduling for test preparation.
  • Support troubleshooting/service/maintenance/repair of the Dynamometer.
  • Utilize data acquisition tools and other systems as needed for test data collection and analysis.
  • Create technical documents and reports to communicate test results and objective evaluation achievement.
  • Support countermeasure development and implementation activities.
  • Support process improvement activities if/as needed.
  • Support additional domain test activities if/as needed.
  • Travel to client / test sites required.
