This position might work 4 days per week, 10 hours per day, or 5 days per week, with 8 hours per day. Our staff work a 24/7/365 operation, and this position is required to be on-call for significant snow events and emergencies, with exceptions for pre-approved leave. We are looking for someone who can be flexible, as we work - Day, Swing, and sometimes irregular shifts. All scheduling is subject to adjustment based on operational need. The Terminal Operations Supervisor co-leads (with 4 other supervisors) a dynamic team of 15 Terminal Operations Officers who assist in the day-to-day management of the Jeppesen Terminal, Concourses, Federal Inspection Services (FIS) area, and airport roadways, including issues involving passenger flow, customer service, security, international arrivals, certain airport infrastructure and facility issues, roadways, concessions, and airline operations. Terminal Operations Officers also monitor compliance with airport and federal regulations to ensure the safety and security of the traveling public and airport employees. Requirements

  • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science or a related field.
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience of the type and at the level of Terminal Operations Officer or equivalent in an aviation environment.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • License/Certifications: By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, coordinates, and resolves operational problems, emergencies, and other unusual situations in the main terminal, and on the concourses in coordination with the Denver Police, Denver Health Paramedics, Denver Fire, contract security personnel, Customs and Boarder Protection (CBP)and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to provide for the safety of the traveling public and efficient operation of the airport.
  • Leads staff in monitoring passenger screening operations in conjunction with the TSA, Total Queue Management (TQM), and Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT) personnel and initiates action as appropriate to resolve problems and maintain passenger movement through the screening areas.
  • Enforces airport security requirements in the terminal and in the Sterile Area and Secured Areas.
  • Leads staff in monitoring and resolving problems involving passenger flow through terminal and concourse areas, including the Automated Guideway Transit System (AGTS) and platforms, baggage screening operations, airline ticket counters, curbside and baggage claim areas, and baggage transportation in the tunnels beneath the terminal and the concourses.
  • Supervises the Federal Inspection Services (FIS) area to ensure the safe and efficient flow of incoming international passengers.
  • Provides comprehensive project management oversight for contracts and programs administered by the DEN Terminal Operations team, including line management services and specialized operational initiatives. Management services and specialized operational initiatives.
  • Conducts required data collection and audits and oversees the timely and accurate processing of invoices for contracts managed by DEN Terminal Operations.
  • Coordinates with airlines, federal agencies, ground handlers, other airport customer service personnel, and airport volunteers to provide assistance and customer service to passengers.
  • Conducts inspections of tenant and concession areas. Takes corrective action for non-compliance, as necessary.
  • Assists in the planning, coordination, and implementation of plans for snow emergencies, stranded passengers, and other operational contingencies.
  • Prepares and submits work orders for maintenance needs in the terminal and concourse areas. Authorizes temporary shutdowns of elevators, escalators, walkways, etc. in the terminal and concourses for maintenance purposes.
  • Logs work orders and inspects finished product upon completion; Ensures that staff completes electronic logbook entries of daily events, maintains databases, and prepares reports as needed; Administers the airport's free speech program.
  • Coaches, mentors, and challenges staff. Champions continuous improvement through lean process methodologies.
  • Sets performance standards for staff and ensures operations achieve or exceed performance metrics.
  • Develops and maintains Standard Operating Guidelines and Operating Instructions that effect landside operations such as roadway and overnight passenger plans.
  • Liaises with project engineers and inspectors to provide guidance on passenger flow and operational impacts related to construction and maintenance projects; Assists with providing services for VIP events, inaugural flights, and special services; Assists and makes recommendations for section O&M, capital equipment, and CIP budgets.
