The Denver International Airport Field Maintenance team is looking for an Airport Maintenance Tech. This position with the Field Maintenance Division performs semi-skilled general labor of grounds, roadway, taxiway, and runway maintenance under the supervisor of Airport Field Technician Supervisors. The Airport Maintenance Technician is an entry-level role with opportunities for advancement, based at Denver International Airport. Employees work in the FAA-regulated Air Operations Area (AOA), requiring enhanced security clearance and airfield driving certification. All maintenance must comply with federal regulations, including CFR Part 139 and FAA Advisory Circular 150/5380-6C.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • One (1) year of experience performing a variety of duties in construction, mechanical, or maintenance.
  • A combination of appropriate education and experience maybe substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
  • Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
  • Required to obtain and maintain Airport ID badge and LAR driving privileges.
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of CFR Part 139 rules/regulations and FAA Advisory Circulars.
  • Knowledge of airport emergency response procedures.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, installation, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools to apply paint and other protective coating materials on drywall, wood, metal, glass, and other surfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in 12-hour rotating shifts for airfield snow removal duties and operates large, complex specialized industrial equipment in accordance with the nature of the work and the efficiency of airport specific multifunctional snow removal equipment.
  • Responds to after-hours calls or emergency calls outside of normal scheduled or business hours.
  • Performs work not requiring a license on a regular basis in one or more trades areas including welding, linear construction (asphalt and cement), maintenance operating specialized hand and power tools such as a jackhammer, plate and jumping compactors, collecting large roadside trash collection, locksmith, power washing tool machinery, airfield paint/markings, and graphics.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs roadway structures to include roadway shoulders, guardrail, fencing, and signage.
  • Assists with repair of airfield asphalt and concrete surfaces.
  • Assists with vegetation management and eradicating and controlling invasive weed species.
  • Assists with barricades, signage, lighting, and any other appropriate device is in place to prevent an unauthorized aircraft, vehicle, or person from entering a closed runway, taxiway, or service road.
  • Responds to airfield emergencies and provides support, including escort of first responders in support of the emergency response plan.
  • Sweep and power wash structures and tunnels to include picking up trash.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned in all weather conditions.
