About The Position

JOB SUMMARY Leitner-Poma of America, Inc. is seeking a passionate, people-centered Tramway Support person to ensure the smooth operation and safety of tramway stations. This role involves assisting passengers, monitoring station activities, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle various tasks efficiently. This position will assume the role of full-time cabin or station attendant, as needed during the absence of an employee. This is a temporary, hourly position hiring at $17.00 per hour as outlined in the Roosevelt Island Tramway’s union contract requirements. ABOUT RIOC AND THE ROOSEVELT ISLAND TRAMWAY The Roosevelt Island Tramway provides the most modern aerial tramway in the world, running every 7.5-15 minutes from 59th Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan to Tramway Plaza on Roosevelt Island. The Roosevelt Island Tramway is operated by the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC), which was created in 1984 by the State of New York as a public benefit corporation. RIOC’s mission is to plan, design, develop, operate, and maintain all of Roosevelt Island’s infrastructure. With a focus on innovative and environmentally friendly solutions, RIOC is committed to providing services that enhance the island's residential community. In addition to the Roosevelt Island Tramway, RIOC manages the two-mile long island's roads, parks, buildings, a sports facility, and other public transportation systems. Additionally, RIOC operates a Public Safety Department that helps maintain a safe and secure environment for residents, employees, business owners, and visitors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Valid New York State driver’s license with the ability to travel as needed.
  • Authorized to work in the United States of America.
  • Proficient in the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with transportation services & tramway operations.
  • Previous experience in customer service.
