This position is a part-time Temporary Student Support (TSS) assignment that will require the student to be onsite at our Corporate Headquarters in Battle Creek, MI. This position takes place during the summer semester (May-August) with a flexible start date based on the chosen candidate’s availability. The assignment will average 26 hours per week for nine (9) weeks. JOB OVERVIEW The Archive Temporary Student Support will help organize, preserve, and showcase the rich history of WK Kellogg Co including decades of cereal innovation, marketing, and merchandising. This role will work directly with the Corporate Archivist to support the daily functioning of a corporate archive. The Temporary Student Support will gain hands-on experience handling historical materials, conducting research, and updating metadata in our DAM system. Depending on learning goals, the student may also support archive tours, design exhibits, and digitize materials. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, passionate about preserving history, and enthusiastic about learning new things. At the end of 8 weeks, the student will have completed a project of their choosing as well as a daily journal documenting their experience.

Requirements

  • Currently a junior, senior, or graduate pursuing a degree in Archive Studies, MLIS, Museum Studies, History, or similar. Students must be actively enrolled in school during the duration of the assignment.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to multitask
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to stay focused and complete repetitive tasks
  • Ability to lift 40lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and rehouse collections (packaging, collateral, ad reprints)
  • Input item location and description information into database
  • Assist in ad-hoc project research and planning
  • Support marketing and communications projects (social media, marketing strategies)
  • Perform scanning and digitization work
