This position is a temporary, non-exempt position that is not eligible for benefits. Hourly range: $23-25/hr. Salary commensurate with relevant experience. About Boston College and the Office of Residential Life Boston College is a Division One university with approximately 9,600 undergraduate students (8,000 residential), located on 118 acres in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, a beautiful suburb seven miles from the center of Boston. Under the leadership of the Associate Vice President and Director of Residential Education and Director of Operations, the department consists of 40 professional staff members, 22 graduate positions, 192 RAs, and 20 additional student employees. Primary Areas of Responsibility The Office of Residential Life is seeking temporary support with key marketing, communication, and technology functions across the department. This role maintains and updates more than 200 web pages, manages social media content and engagement, produces digital and print marketing materials, and supports major departmental campaigns such as Room Selection and RA hiring. The position also assists with digital asset management, assessment efforts, and the creation of newsletters, graphics, and other communication tools that help the department reach students, families, and campus partners. In addition to marketing responsibilities, the role provides essential operational and technology support. This includes assisting with managing card access for students, staff, and vendors; troubleshooting access issues; maintaining key and combination records; and assisting with departmental software, hardware, and system training. The position also supports housing and access systems, collaborates with campus partners on technology needs, and contributes to project work, system updates, and problem‑solving efforts that keep Residential Life operations running smoothly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years of relevant experience, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in web design, social media management, digital content creation and familiarity with common design and office software
  • The candidate should be detail‑oriented, able to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment, customer‑service focused, and collaborative
