We’re unapologetically ambitious! We are looking for a Temporary Strategy Director to join Translation! This role is based in Brooklyn, New York with four days in-office and one day remote.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to uncover and translate insights from African American consumer culture into impactful brand, media, and creative strategies
  • Strong writing skills that enable the distillation of complex information into succinct, clear, and actionable strategic direction
  • Proven experience leading and inspiring junior team members, with a demonstrated commitment to mentorship and professional growth
  • Proven success presenting work with clarity and persuasion, influencing senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners
  • Deep experience applying strategic rigor to every phase of the work — from framing the problem to sharpening the opportunity and defining the path forward
  • Ability to collaborate seamlessly across disciplines, leading with authority while fostering strong partnerships inside and outside of the strategy team
  • Known for effectively managing complex timelines, multiple workstreams, and concurrent accounts without sacrificing quality or strategic depth
  • Has led design and execution of quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies
  • Considerable grasp of the digital and social media ecosystem
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in a role focusing on strategy and brand development
  • A diverse background of strategic skills and disciplines (ie., consumer research, social strategy, comms planning)
  • Passion for insights, innovation, and growing client and agency relationships
  • Experience culling insights and designing consumer research studies

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality, clarity, and accuracy of audience, cultural, and brand insights
  • Identify the "real” problem of every business and brand challenge, quickly assessing and defining the “why” and “how” of every brief
  • Expertly guide brand positioning and inform messaging and channel strategy
  • Lead day-to-day client and project engagements across key accounts
  • Work closely with data strategists, context planners, account directors, and creatives to formulate and execute a vision for how we respond to every brand assignment
  • Build positive relationships internally and externally, inspiring work from common intent and shared desired outcomes
  • Oversee the output of junior team members to ensure it meets client goals and business objectives
  • Contribute to the intellectual capital of the company as it relates to the understanding and decoding of audience and cultural insights
