To learn more about UC Irvine, visit www.uci.edu. This recruitment is for a Temporary Building Maintenance Worker position through UCI's internal temporary staffing department. This position is located on the UC Irvine campus. Your Role on the Team Job duties include, but are not limited to: Perform general repair and maintenance work, including plumbing, basic electrical repairs, minor kitchen equipment repairs, and installation of appliances, fixtures, and wall-mounted equipment. Complete carpentry and painting tasks such as drywall repair, furniture repairs, tile and flooring replacement, surface preparation, and painting to match existing finishes. Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and servicing of food service equipment, kitchen systems, and plumbing fixtures; coordinate with vendors for major repairs when needed. Provide administrative support by maintaining work logs, assisting with inventory and supply ordering, overseeing maintenance student staff, and participating in trainings and meetings.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience performing a broad range of semi-skilled maintenance tasks.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability, including basic plumbing and electrical installations and repairs.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively, and to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to document work performed and work effectively with staff and the general public.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on commercial or institutional food service equipment.
  • Prior experience with carpentry, drywall repair, painting, flooring, or furniture systems.
  • Experience supervising or guiding the work of others, including student or entry-level staff.
  • Willingness to be trained on department-specific systems, procedures, and equipment.
