Founded in 1980, ANEW has a unique and successful reputation for assisting underserved populations into apprenticeship and family wage careers. ANEW is focused on changing the culture and demographics of industries that have historically not been diverse or inclusive. This position is classified as a temporary position with ANEW. This position will conclude on September 1st 2026. POSITION TITLE: Temporary Program Coordinator Reporting to the Program Manager II the Program Coordinator will be responsible for construction boot camps targeted toward youth ages 14-21 in order to explore construction career pathways. The Youth Exploration Program serves students who have an IEP, a 504 plan, or any disability The goal of the program is to introduce construction career pathways to in-school youth. The program coordinator will facilitate pre-apprenticeship boot camps throughout the region that introduce students to trade pathways and develop essential work-readiness skills, including professional development, financial literacy, emotional intelligence, and self-advocacy. A successful candidate will possess basic carpentry and woodworking skills, strong interpersonal communication skills, be committed to working with diverse populations, and lead with compassion. Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience working in Program Coordination, specifically in workforce development, education, construction trades or support services required.
  • Experience and comfort working with power and hand tools, as well as the ability to instruct young people on proper usage of power and hand tools is required.
  • Knowledge of basic carpentry skills, OSHA 10 and shop safety required.
  • Experience managing classrooms or groups of young people with IEP, 504 plans, and students with documented disabilities.
  • Experience providing employment and workforce development workshops for young adults.
  • Experience working with people in an educational environment including school administration, staff, parents, and others.
  • Commitment to DEI values and understanding of equity and social justice principles and how they can be applied internally and in the field.
  • Ability to effectively engage in and sustain relationships with people from diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver basic construction/carpentry information to students via basic projects with usage of power and hand tools. Deliver and monitor shop safety
  • Maintain and use program-based computerized systems, write, and review reports, and maintain accurate
  • Lead students through essential skills for the workplace training and job readiness curriculum.
  • Provide comprehensive project support which includes meeting and event planning, tracking activities to timelines, data entry and support, and assisting in the management of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Provide excellent customer service as needed. Develop and maintain efficient communication
  • Work collaboratively/cooperatively with others on the team and individuals across the organization to develop positive working relationships with co-workers, contract managers, and the students/families
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide instruction to students individually or in small groups in a variety of learning activities; promote student understanding of materials presented. Reinforce and reviews concepts and skills. Adjust tasks to suit the needs of students.
  • Demonstrate the correct and practical applications with a variety of construction hand and power tools used in the construction trade industry.
  • Maintain student records, including attendance, graphs data, compliance in grading information, scoring, Etc., and prepare students’ progress information.
  • Ensure safety practices are being taught, understood, adhered to, and observed.
  • Teach basic mathematics concepts applicable to the construction trades
  • Collaborate with Regional Transition Consultants, schools, and community-based organizations to identify students who have an IEP, a 504 plan, or a documented disability.
  • Collaborate with DCYF/JR employees to continue programming in JR facilities.
  • Coordinate activities customized to the individual student’s needs, considering the student’s skills, abilities, preferences, and interests.
  • Prepare written program reports for internal management and funders.
  • Conduct and track student enrollment and outreach services.
  • Develop and maintain a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop educational activities that include workplace readiness, self-advocacy, and job exploration relating to apprenticeship pathways and opportunities.
  • Successfully execute the Youth Exploration Program, related activities, and workplace readiness in accordance with ANEW’s mission and contract deliverables.
  • Present to a variety of audiences to educate them on the Youth Exploration Programs.
  • Plan Youth Exploration Curriculum. Deliver curriculum and supervise student participants during Exploration workshops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
