Requirements Job Overview The Temporary Learning and Media Designer provides instructional design, course development, and media support for the School of Nursing and other departments. This role collaborates with team members and engages with faculty members to ensure high quality, accessible online courses. This position requires strong Canvas experience, proficiency in HTML (or a willingness to learn), and a dedication to high standards in online, hybrid, and continuing education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a fast paced university environment or in an education/design related work setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively and tactfully with members of the academic community
  • Strong experience with Canvas or other related learning management systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively
  • Attention to detail and enthusiastic approach to a broad range of tasks and duties to contribute to project and department goals

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Design in Canvas: Redesign, organize, and implement course content directly in Canvas, using back-end HTML coding and templates to enhance layout and accessibility.
  • Course Content Assessment: Evaluate existing course materials for curricular alignment with learning objectives, ensuring each component contributes effectively to course goals.
  • Accessibility Compliance: Review and modify content to meet accessibility standards, including formatting, multimedia elements, and descriptive text to support diverse learning needs.
  • Quality Assurance: Assess course materials to ensure clarity, consistency, and functionality within Canvas.
  • Faculty Development: Support training, workshops, and webinars to guide faculty in best practices for online course design and multimedia integration.
  • Innovation and Technology: Develop new strategies and review new tools to support online and hybrid learning in order to recommend their adoption.
