About The Position

Northwest Recreation Center is hiring for multiple temporary positions. All positions are temporary and include paid training. Most employees can work for multiple managers to get more hours and a variety. The most important job skill is willingness to learn. Positions available: Front Desk: Positions listed below are needed during certain hours of operation: -Mornings: 5:45-10am Mon-Sat -Afternoons: 10am-4pm Mon-Sat -Nights: 4pm- Close (9 pm Mon-Thu, 8 pm Fri, 7 pm Sat) - Sun: 10:15am -2:45pm Note that sometimes shifts are flexible. Recreation Specialist: The recreation specialist will be working at Northwest Recreation Center (1255 West 300 North). The recreation specialist works with the Program Coordinator to ensure that the program runs smoothly. The recreation specialist is responsible for running practices for the Rookie League, refereeing games, scorekeeping, and helping set up and take down programming equipment. This position will mostly be on Saturdays with potential hours in the middle of the week for training or helping at events. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for part-time work or someone wanting to work in recreation. Childcare: Teachers and Bus Drivers -Mornings, Days and Nights -Various hours for pre-school field trips -Drivers for school pick up/drop off & field trips Custodians -Mornings, Days, Nights and Weekends Fitness, Classes, Jr. Jazz and Adult Basketball League -Nights & Weekends Lifeguards Shifts vary during the following time blocks: Monday – Friday 5:45am – 12:00pm Monday – Friday 3:45pm-9:00pm Saturdays 7:45am – 7:00pm Sundays 10:00am-2:30pm Swim Instructors Swim Lessons are taught year-round. Classes may be Tuesday & Thursday evenings, Saturday mornings, or weekday mornings during the summer. TEMPORARY POSITIONS: An "At Will", FLSA non-exempt employee who is not eligible for County benefits and who must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month. Must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month. Are not eligible for County benefits except as otherwise provided for by policy. Are not considered merit employees. Are "at will" employees who may be terminated for any reason, without notice, and without a pre-termination hearing.

Requirements

  • Lifeguard Applicants must be 15+ years old.
  • Applicants must be able to stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time.
  • Applicants must pass a swim screening test.
  • Applicants must be able to lift heavy weight for short periods of time.
  • Swim Instructor Applicants must be 16+.
  • Applicants must pass a swim screening test.
  • Applicants must be able to work with children ages 3-14.
  • Due to the nature of some of these positions, the selected applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements
