About The Position

We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for a Temporary International Logistics Coordinator within our Orica Specialty Mining Chemicals (SMC) team. The job duties of an international logistics coordinator involve working to plan shipments, monitor their progress, and prepare and review IMDG and DOT hazardous documents with respective regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include but are not limited to fostering working relationships with clients and shipping providers. The target end date for this role is:  May 01, 2027

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in logistics with focus on port and rail import and exports and freight forwarding
  • Inventory management or Logistics coordination experience
  • Must have IMDG and DOT hazardous chemical experience
  • Experience with hazardous export and import documentation
  • Ability to critically think through multiple step process and follow up on several details
  • Ability to solve problems and create solutions
  • Ability to work under time pressure
  • Direct integrated order management/customer support experience
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of order entry systems, transportation systems and understanding of manufacturing capabilities
  • Able to provide tactical and strategic support to internal business partners
  • Able to manage problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations and perform the necessary analysis and mathematical computations.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Able to communicate effectively in verbal and written communications (with internal and external customers). Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Able to work flexibly and adaptably across business functions
  • Able to work minimal supervision and take initiative to work cross functionally to create value or resolve issues

Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage all aspects of export and import international accounts not limited to order placement, inventory managements and coordinating logistical aspects related to exporting chemical products in Iso tanks and sea containers.
  • Execute accurate and timely product movements to inventory locations, customer sites and logistics assets in a way that drives real-time business decisions.
  • Optimize inventory and equipment utilization and logistics network in a way that meets customer commitments and provides the greatest value to the business.
  • Work with shipping lines/NVOCCs and service providers (trucking companies, containers loading facilities, etc.) to execute bookings and ensure that transactions are executed on time and in most efficient way possible.
  • Communicate processes and procedures (contractual and operational) to LSPs in a timely manner.
  • Communicate shipping and receiving schedules and provide details regarding plant and storage locations.
  • Executes required export and import documentation for multiple accounts in various stages of completion in a highly time sensitive environment.
  • Timely management of multiple lines of communication with suppliers, shippers, customers and internal parties, maintaining details, and relaying pertinent information/issues/delays to appropriate parties.
  • Obtains export certificates from various government agencies in compliance with each shipment.
  • Provide customer support with documentation for import permit applications.
  • Assures compliance with customs, export, applicable foreign trade/importation laws, as well as applicable federal transport regulations.
  • Initiate timely invoicing and work closely with accounting department to ensure billing accuracy.
  • Identifies risks and opportunities, when developing logistics plan and freight estimates for super loads, complex international shipments to ensure cost-effective, safe, and efficient transportation of company’s products.
  • Processes freight claims and customer complaints.
  • Audits export files for compliance and scan into database.
  • Schedule and coordinate product shipments and equipment returns/imports including product and transportation availability, timely delivery to receiver locations, and inventory management.
  • Maintain master data in the order management system accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate shipping and receiving schedules to plant and storage locations.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships to support the Commercial team; gather and provide customer intelligence related to forecasted demand and work to ensure safety, service and supply needs are met.
  • Maintain customer orders and freight details in the ERP system in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Resolve customer problems and service complaints as needed, providing effective communications (internally and externally) to ensure customer satisfaction with Cyanco’s products and services. Coordinate internal and external follow up actions as needed to minimize customer dissatisfaction during exception management periods.
