About The Position

If you're looking for a job where the possibilities are endless, consider the exciting field of computer technology. Our curriculum is constantly changing to keep up with industry demands. In addition to core skills, each student will choose one of the following elective tracks for specialized training in: Systems Administration (Microsoft sever administration), Network Administration (Cisco routing, network security, and Voice Over IP), Web Programming (HTML, XML ASP, JSP, Flash, JavaScript, PHP/MySQL and other programming for web sites and mobile devices), and Applications Programming foundation to prepare students for an entry-level position in the field of information technology. Typical jobs may include network systems administrator, support specialist, network operations analyst, IT help desk support, computer programming and web developer. Our certificate programs provide areas of specialization or a skills update for veterans of the field. There are five (5) full-time faculty plus supplemental adjunct instructors. Program options include Computer Technology - Associate in Applied Science Network Administration concentration; Computer Technology - Associate in Applied Science Programming concentration; Computer Technology - Associate in Applied Science System Administration concentration; Cisco Routing/Network Configuration - Certificate in Applied Science; and Microsoft Network Technician - Certificate in Applied Science. In this challenging role, you will support the Computer Technology department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, Information Systems, or a related field and five (5) years of professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate or Master's degree with a major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, Information Systems, or a related field or any Doctorate or Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Relevant teaching experience in a student focused institution of higher education environment.
  • Professional certifications in networking, programming, or computer systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the Computer Technology department including network administration, programming, and systems administration
  • Prepare lectures/syllabi
  • Implement course curriculum
  • Adhere to college and department guidelines and requirements
  • Grade/assess student work
  • Develop/implement new classroom strategies
  • Consult with students
  • Advise on academic progress
  • Perform other duties as assigned
