We have over 900 undergraduate majors from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds. Our students seek careers working with children and families from birth through adolescence. We are integrated into our local community through our fieldwork courses and strive to emphasize a sense of social responsibility throughout our curriculum. Mission The Child Development program focuses on the study of individual development from conception through adolescence within diverse contexts. Students are provided with fundamental knowledge of theoretical and methodological concepts, developmental processes, and current issues in the field. We believe that child development professionals play an important role in society with a significant impact on children and families. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of teaching experience and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with learners of diverse ages, and socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds. Candidates should possess excellent communication and writing skills, initiative, and resourcefulness. The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled based on student enrollment and authorized funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins in mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.
