About The Position

GovFirst is seeking highly qualified, certified, and experienced Emergency Communications Dispatch personnel to support emergency communications operations in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Candidates must be capable of performing critical public safety dispatch duties with minimal supervision while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, accuracy, and courtesy. This role supports continuity of operations for emergency services and requires the ability to integrate seamlessly into an established communications environment.

Requirements

• Certification in Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Fire Dispatch, Police Dispatch, and EMS Dispatch through the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED)
• Ability to successfully pass: A pre -arrival background check for access to Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS)
• A post -arrival Virginia State Police background check
• Proven experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Teams
• Working knowledge of one or more of the following systems (or equivalent platforms): Tyler CAD, L3 Harris Symphony Radio Consoles, Vesta Call Handling Equipment, RapidSOS software
• Ability to work independently with minimal onboarding or training
• Strong communication, multitasking, and decision -making skills
• Demonstrated ability to maintain composure in high -pressure situations
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as required to ensure continuity of operations
• Must be dependable and punctual due to the mission -critical nature of emergency communications services.

Responsibilities

• Receiving and processing 9 -1 -1, non -emergency, and administrative calls
• Accurately entering call data into the Computer -Aided Dispatch (CAD) system in accordance with our requirements
• Dispatching police, fire, EMS, or other assigned disciplines
• Monitoring radio and communication systems to ensure timely response
• Adhering to all applicable policies, procedures, and public safety standards
• Maintaining professional, courteous, and ethical conduct at all times.
