Requirements

  • Experienced in billing, treasury operations, or finance
  • Basic understanding of payment types (ACH, wire, checks) and reconciliation practices
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Candidates must be based in the Traverse City area.
  • For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Insurance industry knowledge is an asset, but not required
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming and outgoing insurance-related payments, including but not limited to premium payments, member refunds, and agent commissions
  • Reconcile daily payments with internal insurance and payment systems, including variance analysis
  • Analyze and execute member payment adjustments
  • Accurately allocate and apply payments to customer policies in the insurance system
  • Identify and escalate payment discrepancies or exceptions
  • Maintain up-to-date records and support audit trails
